It's poor strategy that reeks of "We are not confident in our product enough to go into mass production", and if you care about the future of the Deck, or a potential Deck V2, you should wish upon a star that they market it to non-steam users, otherwise it's gonna go the same way as the Steam Controller, except the Deck didn't deserve that.More people are getting more devices more quickly. I'm not saying it won't happen or that it won't be profitable, but the incentive is going to drop as the prices fall and the scarcity decreases. Risking your job to make a quick $1500 is one thing, but now that the devices are going for $800-900 it's much less enticing.These steam decks can be sold for double their MSRP right now. Valve should have been smarter and shipped it in a package with no identifying markers. Wow, that's disheartening. Especially if FedEx is violating their own policies. I've heard that FedEx uses 3rd party contractors for the actual delivery. FedEx officially lost my Steam Deck. I was a part of the July 4th group, with the 512 GB model. Package was supposed to arrive Saturday the 9th, reached the delivery center 30 minutes from my house, and then nothing. Finally after 3 days of communication through Twitter FedEx Support, the told me they could not locate my SteamDeck. Steam ships the deck fedex home delivery...those drivers don't actually work for fedex. What they do is bid the routes out and whoever comes in the lowest gets the route. Its hard to notice because they still drive fedex trucks and wear fedex uniforms but if you look on the truck it should have something like JR's trucking or XPV delviery.Today the Steam Deck box was delivered completely empty and it wasn't even a clean cut on the tape. If it doesn't get to in 7 "business" days after it was "deployed", meaning scanned by FedEx, email valve. It sounds like it most probably missed a scan on collection or whenever FedEx scan the bulk batch into the system.
