I got out the trusty Fluke meter and it read 8.4 volts on both the main battery and the N1 stud for the ESS battery. I hooked a 8 amp charger to the main battery and the voltage climbed up to 11v on both batteries (with the ESS battery lagging behind by .2v, i'm assuming that it's behind a charging diode). Higher battery temps, lower voltage. Lower temps, higher voltage. In the 90's and 00's, that was true and a change in the charging systems to prevent overcharging the battery. I'm assuming that you are talking about the 3.6L JL. For reference ESS battery=aux battery=supplemental battery; they're all one and the same. Some people have suggested--and I think them purists--that because the 2 batteries are of different types that it's best to charge them separately.
