If you are dead set on a Rapier you definitely want to have a high Int or Faith to use a buff on it.Estoc is the best of the thrusting swords, but if youre looking for another one handed weapon type, i recommend straight swords. Long Sword, Broadsword or LKSS are great options. LKSS is the best in terms of damage i believe, can be farmed very early, and its the best of them to PVP too.
